Omar Sosa & Seckou Keita (Cuba/Senegal)

A SPIRITUAL AND CAPTIVATING CONNECTION OF THE PIANO AND KORA

A JAZZ PIANIST WHO LIKES TO TALK TO HIS ANCESTORS IN HIS DREAMS BECAUSE THEY ARE OLD AND WISE, AND A GRIOT WHO COVERS HIS KORA AT NIGHT TO PROTECT ITS SOUL FROM BAD SPIRITS. THIS IS AN IDEAL SPIRITUAL CONNECTION FOR THE DEEPLY TRANSCENDENTAL ODE TRANSPARENT WATER.

A famous Cuban jazz pianist Omar Sosa, a kora player and singer Seckou Keita from Senegal and a percussionist from Venezuela Gustavo Ovalles believe that it is possible to look into human soul through Transparent Water. Instead of trance rhythms, which will come anyway through their concert, they create a Cuban and West African dialogue full of impressionism coming from improvisation. Their music is melodic, captivating and it perfectly fits to Omar’s definition of jazz as a philosophy of freedom, moreover, it is not about world-jazz, but about  "music of the Earth".
