Vocal and instrumental power from West Africa

In medieval empire of Mali these kind of trios performed for the king and prevented wars, today Da Kali amaze the audiences at the concerts and let them think about traditional Mali music. But not only their listeners are amazed, the album Ladilikan, recorded with American string Kronos Quartet, was announced number one album of 2017 in fRoots magazine.

The trio has an amazing Griot genealogy: an outstanding singer Hawa is a daughter of a respected singer Kasse Mady Diabaté, Mamadou Kouyaté is the oldest son of a ngoni lute player Bassekou Kouyatého, who can you remember from his performance at this festival and Lassana Diabaté an instrumentalist who performs and records with Toumani Diabaté, Taj Mahala or AfroCubism project.
