VRÏ (WALES) - Opening concert

Instead of Astor Piazolla Quintet Folk Hollidays will be opened by the first concert of VRï from Wales.

UNIQUE TRIO OF SINGING FIDDLERS AND CELLIST

VRï are three young men from Wales who have found the cultural treasure of past centuries and drawn inspiration from the incredible story of a time when Wales’ traditional music and dance was suppressed by Methodist chapels in the 18th century, and, earlier, its language by the Act of Union. VRï are Jordan Price Williams with a fiddler Aneirinim Jones and a cellist Patrick Rimes. Their vision has always been to maintain the integrity and individuality of their fiddle styles within the ideals of classical chamber ensemble.
As audio archaeologists, VRï have discovered long-lost nuggets that shed a new light on a vibrant folk tradition that presents the raw energy of the fiddle with the sound of the violin, the beauty of chamber music. Their songs, sung with powerful vocal harmonies, tell stories of the people who struggled 200 years ago, just as many struggle today.
