BANDA by Michal Žák

BANDA (SLOVAKIA)

BANDA THAT DESERVES SUCCESS

TRADITION VERUS ROCK, REGGEAE, AND EASY-GOING STYLE

Scottish bagpipe player pippers are not only interesting to listen to but to watch playing as well. It might be the kilt or the way the instrument produces the sound. However, if you are not familiar with the Scottish smallpipes repertoire, you have hardly a chance to understand. This tradition has nearly disappeared in Scotland itself. Listen to young smallpippes player Brìghde Chaimbeul, a Scottish bagpipe player, who plays the traditional Great Highland bagpipe and the revived Scottish smallpipes

LAS is their collaborative album recorded live that delivers a mix of original compositions, traditional Scottish songs, and tunes from Bulgaria, Spain and France. Brighde Chaimbeul (smallpipes), Ross Ainslie (smallpipes), Steven Byrnes (guitar, mandolin).

"With LAS, Brìghde Chaimbeul, Ross Ainslie and Steven Byrnes have delivered a highly accomplished album that, probably more than any other you’ll hear this year, unifies innovation and tradition." Thomas Blake (Folk Radio).
