BÁRA HRZÁNOVÁ & CONDURANGO

THE VARIETY ORCHESTRA OF BÁRA HRZÁNOVÁ AND HER MELODY BOYS

A hundred years with Bára Hrzánová and Condurango

If you're reading the title A Hundred Years with Bára Hrzánová as a time reference or perhaps associating it with age, you're completely off track. It’s actually the title of an album Bára Hrzánová released last year to celebrate her 60th birthday and 40 years of the band Condurango.

The band, named after a bitter wine that stimulates the appetite, was founded in the early 1980s at the Prague Theatre Academy (DAMU). The secret behind their lasting partnership is simple: a genuine love for music. They find joy in playing and composing songs that blend elements of folk, chanson, and Latin American rhythms.

The variety orchestra of Bára Hrzánová and her melody boys—which includes her son Tonda, alternating between bass guitar and violin, and the outstanding accordionist Mário Bihári—performs at their own pace and with a relaxed vibe. This results in each concert having its own unique atmosphere, shaped by the setting and the moment.
