JAN VÁŇA

AN INDIE-FOLK SINGER-SONGWRITER AND STORYTELLER

A MELANCHOLIC SOUL FROM SOUTH BOHMIA CITY OF TÁBOR.

A singer-songwriter, lyricist, and storyteller of emotions, he considers himself just a guy from the South Bohemian town of Tábor who jots down words in notebooks and records them at home with a bit of strumming. But his debut album And Darkness Fell on Jordan was ultimately produced in collaboration with Prokop Korb, also known as badfocus.

Proudly following in the tradition of Czech folk songwriting, Jan Váňa places strong emphasis on lyrics — which, he says, might even be more important to him than the music itself. He strives to make sure his lyrics stand on their own, even as poems on a page.
